GENERAL INFORMATION

Physician schedules are generally full one to three weeks in advance. However, every effort is made to work in daily emergencies when they occur.

A sincere attempt is made to adhere to your appointment time.  Our goal is to provide all our patients with the highest quality of care; please bear with us during unforseen delays. All patients are seen by a physician at all visits, we do not rely on nurses or physician assistants to provide you with specialty care.

Special Note To our HMO patients
If you are a member of an HMO, please remember that it is your responsibility to keep track of and arrange for referrals for your visit to this office. Your HMO will not cover charges for your visit unless a proper referral is received in our office by the time the physician sees you. If a referral from your primary care physician is not received in a timely fashion, then your appointment will be delayed or need to be rescheduled for a later date.

  • Payment Policies
Co-payments and deductibles are due at each office visit. There is a $10.00 Administrative Charge for any co-pay not paid at the time of service. We accept cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard. If you are unable to pay at the time of your visit, Alice Frantz, our Practice Manager (814-437-7266) will work with you to arrange a payment plan. Past due accounts will be sent to a collection agency.

    Insurance
We submit claims for you only to participating insurance plans. If you subscribe to a plan that we do not participate with, then you are responsible for handling the claim. We will provide you with an itemized receipt including insurance codes at the end of your visit, once payment has been received by you.

    Participating Health Plans
Please call our office for an up-to-date listing of participating health plans. Your co-payment/deductible is due at the time of your visit.

    Surgical Scheduling
We understand that being a candidate for surgery has its own unique concerns and considerations. Ronda Johns, our Surgical Scheduler is trained to help you take care of the practical aspects of your surgery. She will address:

  • Pre-certification
  • Pre-operative care
  • Step by step preoperative instructions
  • Insurance procedures and claims submissions
  • Surgeon's fees
  • Follow-up care

All medical questions should be directed to your physician.

    Telephone Calls
Our office is open for telephone calls during office hours. Our office staff will answer your questions often after consultation with a physician. When a direct conversation with a physician is necessary, your call will be returned by the end of the day, possibly after regular office hours. This system allows the doctors to see their regularly scheduled patients without undue interruption. Since many diseases cause similar symptoms, most requests for treatment will require an office visit. You must call during regular office hours if a prescription refill is needed. 24-48 hours may be needed to honor these requests.

After 5 PM and on weekends and holidays, a physician can be reached for emergency care. Please call 814-437-7266 and follow the instructions to page the doctor on call. Please limit these calls to emergencies only. If the emergency is severe, and the on-call physician cannot be reached soon enough, please go to a participating facility for immediate care.
